The United States District Court in Oakland, Calif., has condemned the German software company SAP to pay $ 1.3 billion to Oracle. The SAP was accused of patent infringement and theft of intellectual property against Oracle.
The compensation of 1.3 billion approved by the court is less than the demands of the Oracle (who claimed compensation of $ 3 billion) but significantly higher than the $ 40 million that the SAP was estimated to have to pay.

Novell announced today it has signed a definitive merger agreement under which Attachmate Corporation acquires Novell for $ 6.10 per share (approximately 9% more compared to the price of last Friday) in cash in a transaction valued at total of about 2 , $ 2 billion.
