Annunciato il rilascio di una nuova versione di WordPress, piattaforma CMS, scritta in PHP, per la gestione di blog

WordPress 3.4 is here and out the door. We’ve dubbed this release "Green" in honor of guitarist Grant Green whose soulful simplicity has kept many of us company during this release.

This release includes significant improvements to theme customization, custom headers, Twitter embeds, and image captions

The biggest change in 3.4 is the theme customizer which allows you to play around with various looks and settings for your current theme or one you’re thinking about switching to without publishing those changes to the whole world.

There are hundreds of under-the-hood improvements in this release, notably in the XML-RPC, themes, and custom header APIs, and significant performance improvements in WP_Query and the translation system.

Anche Windows 8, come in precedenza Windows 7, ha il suo blog ufficiale. Il blog "Building Windows 8" ha visto la luce a Ferragosto. Una anteprima di Windows 8, che dovrebbe essere rilasciato nel 2012, è stata presentata a fine maggio.

Più di 500 mila Windows Live Spaces blog sono migrati su WordPress.com, ed altri 500 mila clienti Windows Live hanno deciso di creare nuovi blog interamente su WordPress.com.
Lo rivela in un post (http://bit.ly/i1hfV0) il direttore della divisione Windows Live Dharmesh Mehta. Microsoft aveva già annunciato (http://bit.ly/dLkNJF) alla fine di settembre l'intenzione di migrare tutti i blog da Windows Live Spaces a Wordpress.com, decisione che riguarda circa 30 milioni di utenti. Gli utenti avranno 6 mesi di tempo a partire da settembre e fino a marzo 2011 per migrare il loro blog da Windows Live Spaces a Wordpress.com.

Wordpress.com (http://bit.ly/frfiUl) è un servizio di hosting blog gestito da Automattic in cui è possibile aprire un blog sulla piattaforma WordPress, un CMS (Content Management System) scritto in Php e rilasciato sotto licenza GPL v2. Wordpress.org (http://bit.ly/gSzL2H) invece fornisce supporto e consente il download delle varie versioni di WordPress.
