The third release candidate for WordPress 3.5 is now available

• When inserting an image into a post, don't forget the alternative text.
• Fixes for the new admin button styles.
• Improvements for mobile devices, Internet Explorer, and right-to-left languages.
• Fix cookies for subdomain installs when multisite is installed in a subdirectory.
• Fix ms-files.php rewriting for very old multisite installs.

Dopo oltre 3 anni di sviluppo le specifiche di HTML5 hanno raggiunto lo stato di "Last Call" dopo una votazione che ha visto 95 si, 9 no e 6 astenuti. Pur non essendo ancora ufficialmente uno standard, HTML5 è già in uso in diversi browser come Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera.

Firefox 4, rilasciato due giorni fa, ha raggiunto oggi, a distanza di 48 ore circa, i 15 milioni di download

mentre sono stati oltre 7 milioni i download nelle prime 24 ore. Come termine di confronto Firefox 3 fu scaricato 8 milioni di volte nel 2008, mentre Internet Explorer 9, ultima versione del browser di casa Microsoft rilasciato qualche settimana fa, è stato scaricato 2.3 milioni di volte.

Internet Explorer 9, il browser di Microsoft appena rilasciato ha avuto un boom di download, secondo quanto indicato in un post sul blog di IE. Nelle prime 24 ore in cui è stato disponibile vi sono stati più di 2.3 milioni di download. Più di 27 download al secondo, più di 240 download ogni 9 secondi. Un risultato importante, ma comunque inferiore a quello ottenuto quasi due anni fa da Firefox 3, che nel primo giorno raggiunse gli 8 milioni di download.

Google ha rilasciato un plugin per WebM, un codec royalty free, per il browser Internet Explorer 9 recentemente rilasciato da Microsoft. In questo modo gli utenti potranno visualizzare su IE9 i video nel formato sostenuto da Google. Nei mesi scorsi era stata Microsoft a rilasciare dei plugin per Chrome e Firefox per il codec H.264.

Microsoft ha rilasciato la nuova versione del suo browser Internet Explorer, Internet Explorer 9. IE9 è stato rilasciato in 40 lingue, tra cui l'italiano ed è disponibile solo per le ultime versioni dei sistemi operativi Microsoft: Windows Vista e Windows 7. Quindi IE9 non sarà disponibile per Windows XP.

Coupled with IE9’s innovative approach to graphics processing through hardware acceleration in Windows, IE9 is truly an all-around fast browser opening up opportunities for developers to create rich new experiences.
• Numerous enhancements to the user interface such as new ways of handling notifications, the ability to place tabs on their own separate row, and enhancements to the already powerful site pinning functionality.
• Support for additional HTML5 and web standards including Geolocation, and semantic tags.

Microsoft rilascerà un plugin H.264 per il browser Chrome su Windows. Lo conferma con un post su IEBlog Dean Hachamovitch (Microsoft Internet Explorer Corporate VP)

IE9 will support H.264. Microsoft has released an add-on for Firefox on Windows to support H.264 and today we are releasing a plug-in for Google Chrome on Windows to provide support for H.264.

Recentemente Google aveva annunciato di aver abbandonato il supporto al codec H.264 nel suo browser Chrome.
H.264 è stato uno dei primi standard di compressione video ad alta definizione ed è diventato un standard de facto per l'industria del video.
Il plugin è denominato "Windows Media Player HTML5 Extension for Chrome" è disponibile per il download da questa pagina, ed è rilasciato sotto una licenza proprietaria Microsoft.
