Alpha 3 includes the 3.0.0-7.9 Ubuntu kernel which is based on the mainline v3.0 kernel. This is an update from the 3.0-3.4 Ubuntu kernel which shipped in the Alpha 2 release and was based on the mainline v3.0-rc5 kernel. Some of the most notable changes between the Alpha 2 and Alpha 3 release with respect to the kernel include:
- Adopted a 3 digit kernel version, eg 3.0.0-x.y
- Rebase to upstream v3.0 final kernel
- Enable Overlayfs
- Enable Realtek RTL8192CU/RTL8188CU wifi driver
- Enable support for rt53xx wireless chipset family
- Enable Intellimouse mode for Lenovo Zhaoyang E47
- Numerous config updates

Annunciato il rilascio di PCLinuxOS 2011.6 per sistemi a 32 e a 64 bit.
"PCLinuxOS KDE 2011.6 for 32-bit and 64-bit computers is now available for download. The Linux kernel was updated to version 2.6.38.8. Additional kernels are available from our repositories such as a PAE kernel for computers with more than 4 GB of memory. A BFS kernel for maximum desktop performance and a standard kernel with group scheduling enabled. X.Org Server was updated to version 1.10.2. Mesa updated to 7.10.3 and libdrm to version 2.4.26. These updates bring enhancements to the PCLinuxOS desktop including speed, 3D desktop support for most Intel, NVIDIA and AMD/ATI video cards, better font rendering, black screen fixes for most NVIDIA cards, better Flash playback and more."

With over 800 updates, including minor and major updates, the current milestone is ready for some serious testing. This iteration already sees some major upgrades taking place, with the kernel moving on to 2.6.39 and GNOME to 3.0. In addition we have popular GNOME applications like Evolution, Eye of GNOME and others all synchronized, and KDE’s Plasma Desktop coming along nicely with a minor version upgrade to 4.6.3. You will also find upgrades to GCC, glibc, Perl, Python, and the RPM package manager.

Annunciato il rilascio della prima release candidate di Slackware linux 13.37
Hey folks, I think it's time for Slackware 13.37 (hopefully this helps to make up for our lack of code names) release candidate 1! After a lot of testing and consideration, we've decided to go with the recently released 2.6.37.3 Linux kernel which seems to work best for X, contains support for Speakup, and looks like a better kernel branch to be using as we move forward. Please test so we can have a stable release soon.
