Secondo alcuni rumor raccolti dal Wall Street Journal Google sarebbe vicino al lancio di un servizio di cloud storage. Questo nuovo servizio di Google, che dovrebbe chiamarsi Drive e dovrebbe essere simile a DropBox, potrebbe partire nelle prossime settimane o nei prossimi mesi e sarà gratuito per la maggior parte degli utenti e delle imprese.
Drive consentirà agli utenti di archiviare foto, documenti e video sui server di Google in modo che possano essere accessibili da qualsiasi dispositivo connesso a Internet. Inoltre consentirà agli utenti di condividere facilmente i file con gli altri, se una persona volesse inviare un video girato con uno smartphone, ad esempio, potrebbe caricare il video su Drive tramite l'applicazione mobile Drive e quindi inviare via e-mail un link al video piuttosto che inviare un file ingombrante.
Secondo il WSJ già nel 2007 Google aveva intenzione di lanciare un servizio di cloud storage, denominato "Drive G", senza però poi realizzarlo. Sempre nel 2007 fu fondato DropBox, che nell'ottobre del 2011 ha raggiunto i 45 milioni di utenti, ed è valutato 4 miliardi di dollari.

Mozilla ha annunciato il rilascio di Firefox 4, la versione finale arriva dopo il rilascio di 12 versioni beta e due release candidate.

Secondo Mozilla la versione 4 è la versione più veloce di Firefox, Firefox 4 è da due a sei volte più veloce di Firefox 3.
Firefox 4 è dotato anche di un nuovo add-ons manager, supporto per HTML5, App Tabs. Il motore JavaScript incorpora il nuovo compilatore JägerMonkey JIT. Con Firefox 4 un eventuale problema con Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime o Silverlight di Microsoft non causerà il blocco del browser. Se uno di questi plugin si dovesse bloccare non influenzerebbe il resto di Firefox, sarà sufficiente ricaricare la pagina per riavviare il plugin.

IE9 will support H.264. Microsoft has released an add-on for Firefox on Windows to support H.264 and today we are releasing a plug-in for Google Chrome on Windows to provide support for H.264.

Recentemente Google aveva annunciato di aver abbandonato il supporto al codec H.264 nel suo browser Chrome.
H.264 è stato uno dei primi standard di compressione video ad alta definizione ed è diventato un standard de facto per l'industria del video.
Il plugin è denominato "Windows Media Player HTML5 Extension for Chrome" è disponibile per il download da questa pagina, ed è rilasciato sotto una licenza proprietaria Microsoft.

Google ha annunciato l'intenzione di voler abbandonare il supporto al codec H.264 nel suo browser Chrome. Google sta cambiando il supporto al tag <video> di HTML5 per renderlo coerente con i codec già supportati dall'Open Chromium Project. In questo modo Google punta a favorire la diffusione di standard video open quali WebM (VP8) e Theora.
Questi cambiamenti si verificheranno nei prossimi mesi, Google li annuncia oggi per offrire agli sviluppatori che utilizzano il tag HTML <video> l'opportunità di apportare le necessarie modifiche ai loro siti.
