NetBeans IDE 7.0.1 is an update to NetBeans IDE 7.0 and includes the following changes:

Mozilla ha annunciato l'inserimento della nuova versione del suo browser Firefox nel canale Aurora (il "Dev channel" di Firefox). Il download è possibile da questo link firefox-6.0a2.it.win32.installer.exe.

The new features in Firefox Aurora give users and Web developers more control over their browsing and development environments while improving overall performance.

Features include:

  • Data Management Window is an experimental feature that provides control over the the access that specific websites have to your browsing data, including cookies, passwords and location information. To start testing this feature type “about:permissions” in the Awesome Bar (URL Bar).
  • Add-ons Manager with Plugin Check quickly verifies the compatibility of installed plugins directly from the Add-Ons Manager.
  • Panorama Groups on Demand improves browser startup time and overall experience by allowing power Panorama users to load saved tab groups only when using Panorama.

Web developers will also find a new set of tools in this release like Scratchpad, Web Console, Web Developer Menu and more.

  • The Scratchpad lets developers quickly build and test JavaScript snippets in the browser.
  • Web Console adds the ability to move the console to other parts of the window or break out into a separate window.
  • Web Developer Menu provides access to developer tools from the Firefox Aurora Menu Button

Firefox Aurora has additional support for HTML5, DOM level 3, server-sent events, networking technologies and other tools that make it easier for developers build advanced Web apps.

Dopo oltre 3 anni di sviluppo le specifiche di HTML5 hanno raggiunto lo stato di "Last Call" dopo una votazione che ha visto 95 si, 9 no e 6 astenuti. Pur non essendo ancora ufficialmente uno standard, HTML5 è già in uso in diversi browser come Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Opera.

Mozilla procede sulla strada che porterà al rilascio della versione finale di Firefox 5 il prossimo 21 giugno rilasciando la seconda beta

Mozilla ha annunciato il rilascio di Firefox 4, la versione finale arriva dopo il rilascio di 12 versioni beta e due release candidate.

Mozilla, a global, nonprofit organization dedicated to making the Web better, is proud to release Mozilla Firefox 4, the newest version of the popular, free and open source Web browser.

Secondo Mozilla la versione 4 è la versione più veloce di Firefox, Firefox 4 è da due a sei volte più veloce di Firefox 3.
Firefox 4 è dotato anche di un nuovo add-ons manager, supporto per HTML5, App Tabs. Il motore JavaScript incorpora il nuovo compilatore JägerMonkey JIT. Con Firefox 4 un eventuale problema con Adobe Flash, Apple QuickTime o Silverlight di Microsoft non causerà il blocco del browser. Se uno di questi plugin si dovesse bloccare non influenzerebbe il resto di Firefox, sarà sufficiente ricaricare la pagina per riavviare il plugin.

Le proposte di Oracle relative a Java Enterprise Edition 7 (Java EE 7) sono state approvate dalla JCP (Java Community Process, comitato esecutivo per Java SE/EE). La votazione, il cui esito è indicato a questa pagina, si è conclusa con 13 voti favorevoli su 13, 12 "Yes with no comment" e un "Yes with comment", da parte di IBM.
Una delle principali novità che si vuole introdurre in Java EE 7 riguarda il multitenancy, importante per gli ambienti cloud. Si cercherà di introdurre il supporto per HTML5

We expect the Java EE 7 platform to add first-class support for some of the recent developments in the web space, including HTML5 and Web Sockets

Alla JCP sono anche state proposte altre Java Specification Request (JSR), la 340 (Java Servlet 3.1), la 341 (Expression Language 3.0), la 343 (Java Message Service 2.0) e la 344 (Java Server Faces 2.2).
Il rilascio di Java EE 7 è previsto per il terzo trimestre del 2012. Per quanto riguarda Java EE 8 è già stata rilasciata una roadmap, ed è possibile che sia rilasciata entro il 2013.
