Mozilla ha rilasciato la decima beta del suo browser Firefox. Note di rilascio disponibili a questa pagina. OpenSuse 11.1 ha raggiunto il suo fine vita. Dopo il 13 gennaio non saranno più disponibili aggiornamenti, neanche gli aggiornamenti di sicurezza. Rilasciato il 18 dicembre 2008, openSUSE 11.1 includeva il kernel linux 2.6.27.7 , KDE 4.1.3 e 3.5.10, GNOME 2.24.1, Firefox 3.0.4 e OpenOffice 3. OpenSuse 11.2 raggiungerà il suo fine vita il prossimo 12 maggio 2011, OpenSuse 11.3 il 15 gennaio 2012.
Una volta rilasciata la prima release candidate, la seconda RC dovrebbe vedere la luce entro la fine settimana, e la versione finale di Debian 6 dovrebbe essere rilasciata entro il 5-6 febbraio. E quanto previsto nella timeline annunciata da Neil McGovern sulla mailing list degli sviluppatori. Today, KDE has issued a series of stable updates to the Plasma workspaces, the various applications and the KDE development frameworks, versioned 4.5.5. Between 4.5.4 and 4.5.5 there have been 54 commits to the codebase, so the somewhat meagre changelog does not include all the fixes. The usual rules apply, so this update only includes bugfix and translation update. KDE recommends everyone running 4.5.4 or earlier versions to install this update.

Annunciato il rilascio della seconda release candidate di Kde, ambiente grafico (desktop environment) per sistemi unix, linux e bsd. Nella RC2 sono stati corretti alcuni bug e sono stati inseriti gli aggiornamenti di traduzione. Il rilascio della versione finale di Kde 4.6 è previsto per il 26 gennaio.
