Linus Torvald ha annunciato il rilascio del kernel linux 3.3

So after the extra -rc release last weekend, now the final 3.3 is out there in the usual locations.
Things did indeed calm down during the last week, and the shortlog looks pretty boring. The diffstat from -rc7 is dominated by the arch/tile defconfig changes, the rest is pretty small, although there are changes spread out in various subsystem s(drivers, filesystem, networking, perf tools).

Rilasciato il decimo, e ultimo, update di Debian 5.0 "Lenny". Questo sarà l'ultimo aggiornamento di Debian 5.0, per altro già da febbario di quest'anno non veniva più forniti gli aggiornamenti di sicurezza. Debian 5.0 è stato rilasciato quasi tre anni fa nel febbraio del 2009. A febbraio dello scorso anno è stato rilasciato Debian 6.0 "Squeeze" (screenshot, video).

Hybrid ISO images

This is the first release of Linux Mint using Hybrid ISO images. Traditionally, tools such as 'Startup Disk Creator' or 'UNetbootin' were needed to install Linux Mint via USB. With hybrid images, you can simply use the "dd" command or a graphical frontend to make a bootable USB stick with no efforts which acts exactly like a liveDVD.
Pros:

• The resulting USB stick will act exactly like a liveCD/DVD
• The process is fast and simple
• Hybrid ISOs are still compatible with Unetbootin and Startup Disk Creator

Cons:

• This method deletes all the data present on the USB drive
• The USB stick isn't persistent (though you can still use Unetbootin to do this)

Today KDE released updates for its Workspaces, Applications, and Development Platform. These updates are the first in a series of monthly stabilization updates to the 4.8 series. 4.8.1 updates bring many bugfixes and translation updates on top of the latest edition in the 4.8 series and are recommended updates for everyone running 4.8.0 or earlier versions. As the release only contains bugfixes and translation updates, it will be a safe and pleasant update for everyone. KDE's software is already translated into more than 55 languages, with more to come. The March updates contain many performance improvements and bugfixes for applications using the Nepomuk semantic framework.
