Annunciato il rilascio della prima release candidate di NetBSD 7.0

Many changes have been made since 6.0. Here are a few highlights:

  • Greatly improved support for modern Intel and Radeon graphics hardware through a port of the Linux DRM/KMS code. Most X.Org components have been updated as well.
  • ARM multiprocessor support
  • Support for new ARM boards, some of which are listed below:

    • BeagleBone Black
    • Banana Pi
    • Cubieboard 2

  • GPT support in sysinst
  • Lua kernel scripting
  • Multiprocessor USB stack
  • Many improvements to NPF, the NetBSD packet filter
  • GCC 4.8.4 (and optionally, LLVM/Clang 3.6.1)

Annunciato il rilascio della quinta update di NetBSD 5.1 e della terza update di NetBSD 5.2

The NetBSD project is pleased to announce NetBSD 5.1.5, the fifth security and bug-fix update of the NetBSD 5.1 release branch, and NetBSD 5.2.3, the third security and bug-fix update of the NetBSD 5.2 release branch. They represent a selected subset of fixes deemed important for security or stability reasons, and if you are running a prior release of either branch, we strongly suggest that you update to one of these releases.

Rilasciata la versione 10.0 di FreeBSD

The FreeBSD Release Engineering Team is pleased to announce the availability of FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE. This is the first release of the stable/10 branch.

Some of the highlights:

  • GCC is no longer installed by default on architectures where clang(1) is the default compiler.

  • Unbound has been imported to the base system as the local caching DNS resolver.

  • BIND has been removed from the base system.

  • make(1) has been replaced with bmake(1), obtained from the NetBSD Project.

  • pkg(7) is now the default package management utility.

  • pkg_add(1), pkg_delete(1), and related tools have been removed.

  • Major enhancements in virtualization, including the addition of bhyve(8), virtio(4), and native paravirtualized drivers providing support for FreeBSD as a guest operating system on Microsoft Hyper-V.

  • TRIM support for Solid State Drives has been added to ZFS.

  • Support for the high-performance LZ4 compression algorithm has been added to ZFS.
