Today, we’re very proud to release Opera 18. Note that even the numerals look like an elf skiing to Svalbard next to a snowman.

Firstly, Opera 18 integrates your microphone and camera, allowing sites that make use of the getUserMedia and webRTC APIs.

You can now drag tabs between windows or drag them out to create a new one.

Opera 18 is now themeable. You can download themes from Opera add-ons.

In the next two weeks, we’ll promote the experimental Opera Developer.

Nuovo update per Chrome, browser di Google

The Chrome team is excited to announce the promotion of Chrome 30 to the Stable channel for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Chrome Frame. Chrome 30.0.1599.66 contains a number of fixes and improvements, including:

• Easier searching by image
• A number of new apps/extension APIs
• Lots of under the hood changes for stability and performance

The Stable channel has been updated to 28.0.1500.95 for Chrome Frame, Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
Note: Access to bug details and links may be kept restricted until a majority of users are updated with a fix. This commonly occurs if the bug exists in a third party library that other projects similarly depend on, but haven’t yet fixed.
This update includes 11 security fixes. Below, we highlight some fixes that were either contributed by external researchers or particularly interesting. Please see the Chromium security page for more information.

The Stable channel has been updated to 27.0.1453.110 for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Chrome Frame platforms.

Il World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) ha annunciato che le specifiche per HTML5 e CANVAS 2D, reperibili rispettivamente a questa pagina e a questa pagina, sono state completate e sono adesso "Candidate Recommendations". Questo non significa che sono già uno standard, ma che gli sviluppatori possono usare queste specifiche per l'implementazione e la pianificazione.

HTML5 è la pietra angolare della Open Web Platform, un ambiente di programmazione completo per applicazioni cross-platform con accesso alle funzionalità del dispositivo, video e animazioni, grafica, stile, tipografia, e altri strumenti per l'editoria digitale, capacità di rete estese, e altro ancora.

W3C ora intraprenderà la fase di standardizzazione dedicata alla interoperabilità e test. Durante questa fase, il W3C HTML Working Group effettuerà una serie di attività per garantire che le specifiche possano essere implementate con tutti i browser, client e-mail, server, sistemi di gestione dei contenuti (CMS), ecc. L'HTML Working Group ha la durata di questa fase fino alla metà del 2014, dopo di che il W3C prevede di pubblicare la raccomandazione finale HTML5.

Oracle ha effettuato l'update di Java 7 SDK. JDK 7u10 è adesso certificata per Mac OS X 10.8 e Windows 8.

The JDK 7u10 release includes the following enhancements:

• The ability to disable any Java application from running in the browser. This mode can be set in the Java Control Panel or (on Microsoft Windows platform only) using a command-line install argument.
• The ability to select the desired level of security for unsigned applets, Java Web Start applications, and embedded JavaFX applications that run in a browser. Four levels of security are supported. This feature can be set in the Java Control Panel or (on Microsoft Windows platform only) using a command-line install argument.
• New dialogs to warn you when the JRE is insecure (either expired or below the security baseline) and needs to be updated.

Update della versione stabile di Chrome, browser sviluppato da Google

The Stable channel has been updated to 23.0.1271.97 for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and ChromeFrame platforms. This build contains the following fixes:

• Some texts in a Website Settings popup are trimmed (Issue: 159156)
• Linux: selection renders white text on white bg in apps (Issue: 158422)
• some plugins stopped working (Issue: 159896)
• Windows 8: Unable to launch system level chrome after self destructing user-level chrome (Issue: 158632)

The Beta channel has been updated to 24.0.1312.32 for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and Chrome Frame. This build contains following updates:

• Fixed crashes like 161858, 158747, 156878
• Fixed graphical corruption in Dust.
• Fixed print preview in Windows 8 mode.
• Fixed scrolling issue.
